From diary to blog

KEEPING a diary is a great fun. You pour your heart out about all the things you don't want to discuss - even with ur nearest and dearest.

With a lock on the front and hidden under the mattress, these scribblings are intended never to see the light of day.

But if u want to make a memory file, you can keep a record of wher u've been, complete with souvenirs like cinema tickets, pics of parties and so on.

A great way to do this is to use a photo album with sticky pages tht will let u mix and match pieces of text with all sorts of memories.

Online diaries hv benn around since the very first computer networks. Early ones were simply test documents posted on UNENET.

This changed when the World Wide Web(www) was invented. The web allowed people to create a HTML hypertext pages tht could present text along with images, sound files and other elements.

The Dridge Report tht became famous for exposing the Monica Lewinsky scandal has been running since 1994. It started off as a collection of news links and then blosomed as owner Matt Drudge started sharing his own investigations into popula news stories.

Another long-term online diarist is Justin Hall from bud.com. Hall srarted with a few pages discussing interersing place to visit online in 1994, which turned into a more personal diary discussing his opinions on games, life, the universe and everythg else.

The modern blog, a word tht marries the word WEB to LOG, has a specific look to it in tht entries are presented in reverse order so tht visitors see the latest news first.

A mis of text, pictures, video clips and all sorts of other goodies, blogs are among the most creative pages found online today.

If you aren't bloggin already, take a look at the best blogs running today by visiting THE BLOGGIES at http://2007.bloggies.com, and start one of ur own with the help of blogger.com, blogspot.com, blog.com or other services.
